WeBook Publishing is excited to welcome Brazilian journalist, speaker, and entrepreneur, author Vivi Duarte, to the North American literary circle with an audacious new release, Who She Think She Is?. The launch party took place at the WeBook Author Panel last Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Consulate General of Brazil in New York City, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The event opened with an inspiring panel featuring author and entrepreneur Vivi Duarte, alongside television host Rafa Brites, author and poet Cris Casagrande, and WeBook’s founder, Ana Silvani. The panel was introduced by author Larissa Rinaldi and guided by moderator Nathi Narciso. Following that, a second panel featured Heloísa Garrett, Dani Santos Lang, and Rogeria Vianna for an equally thought-provoking conversation, moderated by Danielly Ortiz Luciano.

A Book About Personal Growth and Entrepreneurship

Who She Think She Is? is not entirely a biography. It’s a call to action for dreamers and doers alike. It’s part manifesto, part personal guidebook for anyone ready to step into their power and understand who they are from the perspective of where they stand to rise with purpose.

Drawing from real-life experiences, author Vivi Duarte offers a roadmap for women to own their voice, rewrite their narrative, and transform adversity into opportunity. Through reflections, practical advice, and strategies, Vivi helps readers build the confidence and clarity to move boldly toward their dreams. Success isn’t about fitting in; it’s about showing up.

“Prepare to be challenged and moved, becoming the protagonist of your life. Above all, to be called into action to develop a strong personal brand that can speed up your career. I want to remind you that the road might be challenging, but with focus, faith, and a little humor, we’ll get there. I did it. Let’s go, team!” Vivi Duarte adds.

This book is your invitation to reflect, recalibrate, and rise. Because the journey may not be easy, but with focus, faith, and the right mindset, everything is possible.

“Luck favors those who work for it. That’s just one of the many truths you’ll find in this book, each backed by lived experiences. Without ignoring the historical weight of gender, race, and class, Viviane Duarte delivers a practical and deeply human guide to prosperity for girls and women. Drawing on years of experience across boardrooms and the undeserved outskirts of Brazil, she gives voice to strategies forged in both struggle and resilience.” - Aline Midlej, Brazilian Journalist, anchor at Globo News, and writer for Vogue Brasil.

A Book That Also Makes a Cultural Statement

We hear you. When you first saw the title “Who She Think She Is?” you probably paused and asked yourself, “Isn’t there a verb missing? Shouldn’t it be “Who Does She Think She Is?”

That reaction is precisely our point. Vivi’s book title draws its power from AAVE (African American Vernacular English), also known as Ebonics, which has its own grammar, rules, and expressive richness. It’s a living linguistic tradition spoken by millions of people across the United States, and saying “Who she think she is?”, without the auxiliary verb does or the “s” ending, is correct and natural.

This phrase is an idiomatic expression of challenge and defiance, often used to call out audacity when a woman of color is taking up space, asserting themselves, daring to step outside expectations, or dreaming too big.

The author isn’t making a grammatical slip. She knows that language is more than rules in grammar books. She is reclaiming a phrase that has been part of oral culture, music, and everyday speech for many decades. By doing so, she prompts readers to confront their assumptions about language, authority, culture, identity, memory, and power.

“How dare she state her power right in the title? Who she think she is? (Who does she think she is?... if this makes you feel better). If you’ve ever heard this question or asked it of yourself, this book is for you.” - Ana Silvani, Founder & CEO, and Editor of WeBook Publishing.

Brazilian author Conceição Evaristo is another example of a black author who owns their words and resists criticism. She came up with the word “escrevivência,” which is the junction of the words “escrever” (writing) and “vivência” (living). The word was considered a mistake. However, the main idea is to break patterns and challenge traditional grammar.
